Climate Action

9/26/2019

On Friday of last week the children from 1st to 6th class joined with young citizens from more than 150 countries in participating in the Global Climate Strike. This event was organised to give young people a platform to pressurise global leaders to do more to combat the existential threat that climate change represents.

The children from Scoil Mhuire, accompanied in solidarity by the staff, assembled in the yard and walked down along the river to the one of Ballymore's most beautiful spots - the wooden platform that overlooks the river. There, we were joined by parents and members of the local community to hear Fiona Breslin explain the issue of climate change and to listen to how we could make a difference. The children had lots of questions and suggestions for Fiona and responded really well to her talk.

We'd like to thank all those who stood in solidarity with the children and to the children for taking part so enthusiastically. A very special thanks to Fiona for speaking to the children with such passion and enthusiasm.
